Bullying and harassment

We offer a range of support to schools and other establishments within County Durham as well as to children and young people and their parents, guardians and carers.

Ask Buddy

We also operate an interactive email service - ‘Ask Buddy’. In conjunction with Childline and the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children NSPCC, the service has developed an accreditation scheme for establishments meeting a range of criteria based on actively encouraging anti-bullying strategies.

All schools should have a policy which sets out clearly what is considered as bullying and/or harassment. The policy should also set out what pupils and parents should do if they suspect bullying is taking place, and how the school should deal with reports of such incidents.

We would always encourage anyone concerned about bullying to contact their school initially. We hold a list of details of a key contact person in every school in Durham.

For further details about the anti-bullying service and for general advice and support, please contact us.
